Love Was in the Air

On February 14, 2026, Citizens Moving Forward (CMF) hosted a joyful Valentine celebration during our monthly Golden Gatherings for seniors. Approximately sixty individuals, age sixty and older, attended and enjoyed an afternoon filled with delicious food, crafts, music, dancing, and wonderful fellowship.

Golden Gatherings is CMF’s effort to create a welcoming environment where seniors can come together to engage in meaningful activities that encourage connection and socialization. The Valentine celebration truly delivered on that mission.

The music set the tone for the afternoon. When the song “Boots on the Ground” began to

play, many were transported back to their “sweet sixteen” days. Several participants laughed and shared, “We haven’t danced like that in many years!” The dance floor quickly filled with energy, smiles, and laughter.

Even more meaningful were the conversations that

followed. Friends reminisced about earlier days, shared stories from their younger years, and reconnected with memories that time had tucked away. These moments of reflection and joy created a spirit of warmth and togetherness throughout the room.

By the end of the event, many left feeling pleasantly tired, but also refreshed and rejuvenated. The Valentine gathering was a beautiful reminder that fellowship, music, and shared memories continue to enrich life at every age. (Click here to see additional pictures, photographer: Mrs. Hinds)
