A small group of Miltonians with a concern for the unification and health of the community founded Citizen Moving Forward (CMF), a nonprofit organization, in October 2016. CMF evolved because of four African American men recognizing an opportunity to purchase the property where CMF now resides. The four men thought the asking price was too good to refuse; therefore, they purchased the property and then begin conceptualizing how to use it to benefit the community.

After many deliberations, they decided to incorporate as a nonprofit 501c3 that would focus on seniors and youth. Citizens Moving Forward, the name, came out of the idea that the programs and activities administered by the organization would originate from ideas and be managed by volunteers from the community.

Our aim is to become a focus point for many in the community; therefore, we are among the founders of the Coalition for Collaboration, whose primary job is to ensure the residents are informed of the various community's activities and events.
